QUESTION #2

I don't like these questions. I wanted to point that out just in case I haven't made it clear.

Talk about my family. Well, I kinda have two, the way I look at things. One is my family like my parents, and one is my own little family. I'll talk about that one first cause I like it the most.

In order of importance, we'll start with...

MY DOG:

Haha, he's nutty, this dog. I dunno what his deal is. He's always getting himself into some crazy mishaps and wacky adventures.

His name is Rocky, like the squirrel of Rocky & Bullwinkle fame. But that's pretty fruity, pretty femmy, pretty fey, so I tell everyone that he's named after The Rock. That way, they think he's a lot cooler than if he was just named after some cartoon character.

We saw his picture in the paper just before Christmas a few years ago, in the section where they put out ads for animals in the pound. He was so cute. So I went and got him as a present for Charity and she loves him very, very much.

We really don't know what kind of dog he is, he's kind of a mutt. Mainly, we suspect that he's a Lab. That's short for Labrador. I think. I don't know dog breeds.

Sadly, he was abused as a puppy before he made it to the pound. The end of his tail is crooked like somebody broke it, and the pound people told us that he and his brother were found in the snow, like someone just dumped them off and hoped that they'd die. That's horrible. But on account of our top-notch parenting skills, he seems very well-adjusted now.

He's a good watchdog and he barks whenever he hears something suspicious. He mostly sleeps all day in this ultra-comfy dog bed we bought him for like $200 or something insane. But his old bed was giving him a bad back, so he needed an upgrade.

We took him to our new house the other day and he sure seemed to like it. There's lots of space so he's got plenty of room to run. And jump. And play. I think he'll be very happy there. Until he meets the horses, then he's gonna freak right out.

He's a good dog. I like him.

CHARITY:

Oh, where to begin. I met her on the very first day of kindergarten when we were but 5 years old. According to our teacher, it was about 5 minutes before class started and the room was half filled with parents and their crying kids who were just starting to understand the awful scholastic hell that awaited them over the next 12 years. And there was a sweet little girl with the prettiest dark hair standing near the teacher's desk, just trying to make sense of the crazy scene.

Then this adorable little scamp walked over, tapped her on the shoulder, and asked her if she'd like to be friends. Usually I'm not that forward, but it worked out because she said yes. And the rest is history.

Our parents all assumed that what drew me to her was her name tag, because my sister's name is also Charity. Apparently, the fact that the two people I'm closest to in the world not only have the same name, but it's not terribly common name, is something of an unusual coincidence. Or so I've been told.

Aside from the aforementioned Charities, I don't know anyone else with that name. Not even anyone famous. I think there's a Charity on this one soap-opera, but that's about it. In my sister's case, Charity was a family name, as is mine. I think my great grandmother was named Charity. In my fiancee's case, her parents just liked picking names you don't hear every day. Her brother and sister also have unique names.

Anyway, our parents figured that I liked my sister, my sister is named Charity, I saw this other girl named Charity, and I figured I'd like her too. But I dunno, that sounds a little too far fetched to me. Who came up with that? Oliver Stone?

But we've been pretty much inseparable since that fateful first day. She's been my best friend all of my life. We've only been a couple in romantic terms for a few years, since it took me a little while to get my act together. But I love her more than I could ever try to describe. We're gonna get married in a few months. I'm totally excited. I hear you get awesome presents!

MY OTHER FAMILY:

Now I'll talk about this group of unscrupulous rogues.

MY DAD:

My dad is a good guy. I get the feeling that there's a lot about him I don't know, because he doesn't really talk about what he was like at my age. I know he ran track in high school and has all kinds of medals. He was almost a back-up for the Olympic team but he got hurt.

But I hear stuff, sometimes from my sister, but mainly from people that used to know him when he was younger that makes him sound like he was quite a rebel back in the day. One of my uncles told me a story about how he got into a fist fight with these cops one time. The cops were always harassing my dad and his brothers because the chief didn't like my grandfather for some reason. So once they pulled over my dad when he was 17 or so and he laid the smackdown on 'em.

I have no idea how much of that story is true, but I've heard a lot of little tales like that over the years. He's into motorcycles and he has an old 1960-something Harley that he took apart, which is now sitting in the garage in a few hundred pieces. He's always meaning to put it back together, but he never does.

He drinks Pepsi a lot. I don't like Pepsi, it's too sweet. TOO SWEEEEEET. But he sure likes it. He also likes steak. And the Discovery Wings channel, too.

That's about it.

MY SISTER:

Let me tell you, she's pretty great. Friends of mine who had sisters their own age were always fighting with them and whatnot, but mine is several years older than me so we've always been really close without any of that fighting stuff. I was only 9 or 10 when she left for college. But she always stayed updated with what I was doing, and she'd write me letters and that kind of thing. It was nice.

When I started doing stuff in school, like playing sports or being in the school play or whatever, she'd always come to see me. That was always the best part, knowing that she was going to be there to watch. She's always been really supportive and encouraging and all that good stuff. I love her a whole bunch. I cannot imagine having a better sister.

MY MOM:

My mom is... my mom. I like her. But what I like more is that I just passed my word count! Woo hoo!
