WEEK #6: MY NEW DIGS

As of tomorrow, March 1st, my booty poodle and I will be the proud owners of a lovely new home. Well, sort of. We don't actually "own" it. But we'll be able to live there as if we do.

I have a (crappy) picture of the place, but I have no way to upload images here. It's a pretty nice house, though. It's insanely nice. It's immense. It's almost embarrassing in a way, because to look at the house would make you think almost immediately that there's no way I could ever afford it. Which I couldn't, so you'd be right.

Basically, Charity has been working for the previous owners of the home, who built a lot of stables and other horse-related buildings on the property. People actually pay to keep their horses boarded there, as I guess there's a lack of horse boarding places in the area.

And Charity loves horses. Loves! When we were in elementary school she'd always go to this stable to play with some horse and ride it and groom it and all whatnots. Then it died and she was very sad, but I was secretly happy because it meant she'd be able to hang out and ride bikes with me again. Stupid horse, taking her away from me. Who knows how long that nonsense would have went on if I hadn't started that fire.

But anyway, she was helping take care of the horses at this place. And when the couple told her they were moving and selling the house, she was all "hmm". She loved the house, she was always talking about it. She hasn't used these exact words but I think it would qualify as her dream house, except you can't carry it around like Barbie's. Although that'd be cool.

So she mentioned to the owners that she'd love to buy it, but neither her nor I have that kind of money. And the owners had grown to like Charity a lot, and I think they kinda liked the idea of selling it to a nice young couple that's just starting to form a family, so they gave her like 2 weeks to figure something out before they put it on the market. And by "figure something out" I mean "beg her mom for the money". Which she did.

And Charity's mom agreed to buy the house, provided of course that we pay her the money back. Which will probably take the rest of our lives, unless we sell it ourselves someday. But that's okay. I guess it beats having to pay the bank every month, since her mom won't charge us some crazy interest rate or something. At least I assume she won't.

And as of Monday it'll be ours. The old owners spent the last few weeks moving, so we haven't seen it since it's been emptied out. We'll probably go there tomorrow, meaning that (IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT) I won't be in class. But I got the notes off the online thing! I'm in good shape.

The part I like best is that it's 5 miles from anything, so it's pretty isolated with no stupid neighbors. But it's only 20-25 minutes from our families. I think there's 4-5 bedrooms and bathrooms. A really nice kitchen. With a breakfast nook!!!!! The basement is big and nice and sturdy, which is good in case of tornadoes. They had a pool table down there but I bet they took it. And there's the horse-related things I already mentioned.

The funniest part to me was this write-up of the house that a relator did for them. The old owners built this big garage away the main house and the realtor (I'm assuming because of the workshop possibilities) described it as the fantasy of most modern men. I've had many fantasies in my day, but I can't say that any of them ever involved a garage. Maybe I'm not a modern guy.

We'll check it out tomorrow and I'm sure the designing & furnishing process will begin 5 minutes after we arrive, but we're not going to actually move in until after the wedding. That way our married life will start off on a fresh, exciting foot for the both of us. Or something.

I think that's all I have to say. Charity is really excited, she loves the place. I like it too but mainly I like that she likes it, cause I’ll live anywhere. For me, home is wherever she is. (Sappy music) (Hugs) Haha sorry, I was watching the end of Full House there. What a nice show! Bob Saget is so understanding.

I’ll try to get the picture posted sometime if I can. Bye bye.
