WEEK #4: ST. VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRE

A massacre on my wallet! Haha, not really. I was going to list some things like those commercials do and be like "flowers: x dollars. candy: y dollars. romantic dinner: z dollars". But then in order to be funny, the "priceless" closing would almost assuredly have to be some kind of off-color carnal reference, which would just be uncomfortable for everyone.

The big perk to being such a romantic fellow, of which I most certainly am one, is that I actually don't have to do much of anything for the V-Day. At least, I assume that's why. I remember having a conversation just before our first one that went something like: "So what are we doing for Valentine's Day?" "Ummm... I dunno. What do you want to do?" "Don't worry about anything, I'll take care of it." So either my year-round romantic ways have paid off, or she didn't want me to screw anything up. I'll stick with thinking it's the former.

Not that I don't do anything, though. I surely buy her some candy because it's one of the few times of year I can buy candy without Charity giving me grief for putting such terrible things in my body. Which is adorable and it shows how much she cares! But I still regret writing here the other day about how I had that Mean Gene burger. I dunno what I was thinking on that one.

Plus, getting back to the candy, there's a Russell Stovers factory only like an hour away. So I can get it fresh right from the source. It's quite good. I buy a big box because I've gotten her candy for Valentine's Day since we were in the 6th grade or so, and because she's a delightful person who shares, she's always insisted that I have some of it. But back then it was like a measly 8 pieces cause I didn't have any money for a big box, so I'd end up eating half of her present cause I like candy. Now with the big box I can still eat half, and since she gets 30-some pieces instead of 4 she doesn't notice that I've had so much of it.

I think our arrangement works pretty well. She does things that I'd never even think of, like finding hotels that make up special Valentine suites with flower petals and candles everywhere and that kind of thing. I don't get to go, but from what she tells me afterwards it sure sounds nice.

I'm going home, good bye.
